Do bear in mind that these inclusions are merely tiny snippets of what the author has to say. The book includes advice on, curing writer's block, paths to publication, dealing with rejection, do's and don'ts, giving and receiving criticism, paths to publication, and information specific to each star sign. Discover your writer's persona.
ARIES: Aries writers are the go-getters of the zodiac. Dynamic by nature, they are assertive pioneers, natural leaders and never shy away from a challenge. Complicated or daring writing projects that might make other writers shudder in their shoes are nothing more than an attractive dare to those born under the symbol of the Ram. Blunt and forceful, Aries writers would do well to learn how to slow down a bit, to take a more measured view of their course and to listen to the opinions and advice of others. If you write for magazines, keep in mind that, these days, magazine readers want short, bite-sized bits of helpful information that make their lives easier on a day-to-day basis. Think beyond the obvious 2,000 word article and consider penning miniature tips and fillers for a variety of publications.
TAURUS: Taurus writers are deliberate and hard working. These scribes will labour patiently and steadily to reach their goal and have little propensity toward distraction. Those born under the sign of Taurus are happiest when their circumstances are predictable. Therefore, their charge is to learn how to stretch their horizons a bit and not be afraid to strike out into new territory in their writing pursuits. By limiting their vision they may be cutting off possible sources of future publication. Ruled by the planet Venus, they are attracted to romance and all its aspects. It's no surprise to find many Taurus writers working in the romance genre.
GEMINI: Geminis are the great communicators of the zodiac. They are social, inquisitve, talkative, and intellectual. They make great journalists because they are flexible and objective - you can send them on an assignment acoss the globe on a moment's notice, and they won't balk. Geminis are terrific at brainstorming and usually have a million ideas for stories and articles. They plunge into something new at the drop of a hat. To a Gemini life experience is a smorgasbord of tasty delights - but the Gemini would rather move along to the next delectable entree than waste time hovering over one dish. Given the Gemini's tendency to stray once enthusiasm is lost, it is important that he/she finds writing projects that will hold his/her interest.
CANCER: Cancer is the lunar-influenced scribe of the zodiac - emotional, responsive, and perceptive. Centred on home and family, they are individuals who like to nurture others and keep the hearth-fires burning. Tradition, family, and history are important to them. Consequently these moon children may find themselves drawn to subjects that have to do with people's private lives, historical events, and home or family life. Because they are adept at plugging in to the heart and soul of other human beings, they are talented at creating believable characters who are collages of family and friends they know in real life.
LEO: Leo writers are the consummate entertainers of the zodiac. Leos are born with a flair for the dramatic, so a Leo's writing will never be described as boring or dull. They are generous with their talent and will pull out all the stops to dazzle their readers with whirlwind plots and larger than life characters. Leos who specialize in non-fiction writing have a special knack for making even the most prosaic of subjects fascinating to their audience. When put centre stage no one performs with more brilliance than a Leo. Leos want to win over everyone with their appealing prose and sparkling personality, and find it hard to acknowledge that they will not always succeed.
VIRGO: Meticulous is your middle name. Practical scribes born under the sign of the Virgin approach writing in an orderly and precise manner - for them, nothing less will do. If they are required to research for an article they will dig deep to locate sources and information, leaving no stone unturned. They are analytical to the extreme and are never satisfied with a mere surface treatment of anything, and most certainly not in their work! They deliver sparkling and intelligent prose and poetry second to none. Reliable and deadline conscious, Virgos are diligent in completing writing assignments.
LIBRA: Libra is all about balance. Libras have the ability to detach themselves from situations and render level-headed assessments. Chaotic atmospheres set Libras on edge - they prefer orderly harmonious, and aesthetically pleasing surroundings. One of their gifts is the ability to look at the world and people around them with impartiality and diplomacy. Often described as easy going and laid back, Libra writers can slip into the habit of being a bit too relaxed. They can be so caught up in seeing both sides of an issue that they become stuck in limbo and reluctant to make a firm decision. Libras work well with others and are excellent collaborators on writing projects. They are genuine moderates who have the gift of objectivity. They make excellent editors because they can look at a piece of work with an unbiased, fair point of view. They are versatile scribes who have the ability to write across genres and styles.
SCORPIO: Scorpio writers are enigmatic and rarely indecisive, and approach their craft with an intensity that is both admirable and awe inspring. The writers of this sun sign are not only dependable, they are courageous and confident. An air of certaintly pervades every project Scorpio writers undertake. When they tell you they will complete a book manuscript or sell their screenplay, you can take that to the bank and cash it in. Passion and confidence make for an impressive and unstoppable writer. If a Scorpio truly wants to become a professional writer, no one and nothing on this earth can or will stop him. However, Scorpios must be careful not to leave broken souls and singed egos in their wake.
SAGITTARIUS: the gregarious, blunt, and freedom loving philosopher of the zodiac. Subjects such as law, religion and politics fascinate these jovial Jupiter-influenced writers - but that's just for starters! Sagittarius writers are great conversationalists, and this comes through even on paper. They make the reader feel comforable - almost as if the reader is sitting across from them, having a fireside chat. Sagittarius fiction writers are attuned to the characteristic ebb and flow of dialogue and know where to place pauses for emphasis. They love stories full of suspense and intrigue. Travel may also be a prominent part of their fiction writing, as Sagittarians are no strangers to wanderlust.
CAPRICORN: The Capricorn writer has the ambition and discipline to make it to the pinnacle of success. Capricorn is steady, reliable and undeterrable when it comes to keeping the eye on the prize. They will keep moving toward the finish line long after most writers have veereed off course from discouragement or frustration. Capricorns are the epitome of the hard worker. With a stripe of leadership a mile wide, they exude quiet confidence and remarkable resilience. Capricorns must develop patience and acknowledge that it's all right when collaborators do things a bit differently. There are many ways to tackle an assignment, and while one method works for the Goat, it may not fit the modus operandi of anyone else.
AQUARIUS: The progressive, inventive sign of the zodiac. They are free thinkers who are often so innovative and far ahead in their visions and ideas that the other writer signs - and the world at large - have a hard time keeping up with them. Described as otherwordly or eccentric, Aquarians begin to develop philosophical and spiritual bents at an early age. They are often drawn to the sciences, many are just fascinated by the psychic or supernatural realms but this doesn't mean they are fooled by charlatans or accept any harebrained theory put in front of them. Their minds are too logical and discerning for that. Science fiction and fantasy are excellent genres for Aquarius writers, but they're also atrracted to history, biography, and the condition of mankind.
PISCES: Known as the sensitive, imaginative dreamers of the zodiac. Often it's said that those born under the sign of the Fish are living in their own dream worlds. They are natural understudies of human nature. They are empathic at the core and adept at understanding and interpretingt the internal motivation of other human beings. One of their biggest strengths is the ability to craft realistic, believable characters. Pisces writers are especially affected by those who are down on their luck, and they are masters at penning human interest stories or spinning tales of a character triumphing over unfortunate circumstances. They are genuine in their concern for other poeple - this is what makes them such naturals for communicating with others through the written word.
