SUMMERTERM 2024
Deadline: 7th May
Brief: Write about your earliest superstition or one that has crept into your life. Have you overcome it or does it come back to haunt you now and then? Fact or fiction.
Deadline: 21st May
Brief: C W I T S N E M B R here are ten random letters: using words that begin with these letters, and keeping them in the same order, write an opening sentence. Continue writing to see where it takes you – let’s see how far you get.
HALF TERM 27th – 31st May
Deadline: 4th June
Brief: Fact or fiction: a story or a diary entry about a simple board game that gets out of hand with the players turning on each other and causing an almighty rumpus.
Deadline: 18th June
Brief: Here we are in midsummer – make a list of your observations and write a poem (or piece of prose) about the season. If you seek inspiration Google ‘poems about midsummer’ you’ll find it’s a heady time of year for poets who enjoy midsummer and the associated folklore and celebrations.
Deadline: 2nd July
Brief: Get your ears flapping. Time for some earwigging - listen out for snatches of conversation by total strangers (or family) make a note – add to whatever it was you overheard, develop it further.
Deadline: 16th July
Brief: Here are six titles. Select one, then add your wonderful words. Fiction – article – memoir - poem: the choice is yours.
